Paired with neutral cream satin and sage piping they offer a sophisticated compliment to any decor, making them a versatile addition to any space.

The central panels depicts a stream covered in a multitude of flowers and leaves, alongside the spring like colours there is a theme of rejuvenation, perseverance, growth and beauty.

  • Medium weight hand-painted silk Kimono panel.
  • Supplied with kapok & tencel cushion fillers made in-house.
  • Unique & One-of-a-Kind.  Only one pair has been made.
*Please be aware that although all fabrics are professionally cleaned, due to the nature of using up-cycled and vintage materials some pieces may have small marks or fold lines. They are all part of the history and tell the story of an item’s previous life. If any are present, they will be noted in the description and pictures.

Symbolism

This beautiful design depicts a stream covered in a multitude of flowers and leaves, alongside the spring like colours there is a theme of rejuvenation, perseverance, growth and beauty.

  • Chrysanthemums are the Imperial Symbol of Japan and a symbol of longevity.
  • The Flowing River represents rejuvenation and carrying away hardships.
  • Open Fans symbolises luck for future prospects.
  • Bamboo Leaves are often used for protection.
  • Maple Leaves represent elegance, beauty or a reconnection with nature. Here they are changing from red to green denoting the change of seasons.
  • Plum Blossoms, symbolize resilience since they emerge in early spring after enduring the harsh winter. They are the first to bloom in spring, a time of renewal and hope.

This is just a few of the symbolic motifs used. Head over to my guide to look up any more you might spot.

Product Care Guide

K-Squared Cushions are luxurious, decorative cushions made from reclaimed Kimono and Obi fabrics, designed for use on beds, sofas, or chairs. They should not be used as floor cushions, outdoors or sat on.  The are mainly made from silk, with hand painted designs, metallic threads or embroidery.  The delicate nature of these fabrics mean
they require some special care:

  •  Handle with care ~ Avoid rough use. Not suitable for babies, pets, outdoor use or as floor cushions. (defiantly no pillow fights)
  • Keep away from direct sunlight ~ To prevent fading and the degradation of the silk fibres.
  • Keep dry ~ Dry clean only.  Be careful of sweaty backs or spillages.
  • Spot clean stains ~ Carefully dab stains (do not rub), or get professionally dry cleaned.
  • Avoid sharp objects ~ Such as pets claws, that may snag or tear the fabric.
  • Store properly ~ Keep in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep Away From Fires ~ or other heat sources such as radiators, candles, incense sticks etc as the cushions or inserts may be flammable.

The cushion inserts are made from sustainable Kapok and Tencel.  The same advice applies as above.  They will stay full and plump if gently
fluffed after use, and stored properly.
